Una delle potenzialità di Open Office, la valida alternativa a Office di Microsoft, è l'utilizzo delle estensioni. Ce ne sono parecchie e tutte estremamente valide, Il repository ufficiale delle estensioni per OpenOffice è disponibile qui .

Noi ci occuperemo di una estensione utile per trasformare Calc in un Database semplice da usare a supporto  del nostro GIS. 

Innanzitutto è bene sapere come si installa una estensione, per farlo ci sono varie possibilità:

• scaricare il file. oxt and double-click.

DataForm is able to generate a form with an input area in the tables in Calc (imitating the "Data Form" in Microsoft Office Excel).

In Calc, create a table and its labels, for example

you can create your own. Personally I tried to create me with a point layer in qgis WGS84 (datum used by Google Maps), I exported the KML file, then from the Google Map page, I uploaded the file. A final aspect that I would like to emphasize is the backup. After you create your own map is useful to make a copy, just to avoid that it be deleted for some reason. To do this you can save by pressing the link in your page listed as "View in Google Earth", this allows you to save kml

your map. In theory you could load it in Google Earth but in my case I lost the titles of bookmarks, anche con altri GIS perdevo i dettagli dei segnalibri, comunque sicuramente è un ottimo backup per poterla ricaricare in Google Map.
